1,000+ Reviews and Counting: Why Customers Continue to Trust Advanced Computers
Advanced Computers has passed 1,000 customer reviews across Google and NoCowboys. Here are the themes that come through in recent customer feedback, from communication and turnaround times to difficult repairs and data recovery.
Advanced Computers has reached a milestone of 1,011 customer reviews across its Google and NoCowboys profiles. The Penrose branch has 442 Google reviews, while the Rosedale branch has 366. A further 203 reviews are published on NoCowboys.
Reaching 1,000 reviews means more than having a large number displayed on a profile. Each review represents a customer who chose to share what happened during their experience with Advanced Computers.
The reviews cover a wide range of situations. Customers have brought in laptops, Macs, desktop computers, phones, cameras, TVs, speakers and other electronics. Some needed a straightforward upgrade. Others arrived with a device that had an unusual fault or important data that needed to be recovered.
To mark the milestone, we looked at some of the recent feedback and the experiences customers chose to share.
Helping Customers Get Their Devices Working Again
Some customers arrive with a straightforward problem. Others have a fault that is harder to identify.
- At Penrose, Mary D. brought in a device with what she described as a “simple but curious problem”. The issue involved a screw, and the team was able to resolve it within minutes.
- At Rosedale, Joel P. brought in a faulty circuit board from a factory machine with limited information about the board. The team identified and repaired the problem.
- Sandy A. had a different challenge with a camera experiencing zoom problems. Parts were difficult to source, but the camera was eventually repaired and returned working. Sandy said the repair saved her from having to buy a new camera at a much higher cost.
Keeping Customers Informed
For customers sending equipment away or waiting for a repair, knowing what is happening can make the process easier.
- Jeff M. sent a Canon L lens to the Penrose branch from out of town. He said the team made the process effortless and kept him informed from inspection and quoting through to the completed repair.
- At Rosedale, Camille K. had two devices serviced: an iPod Classic and an ASUS ROG 8 Pro. The ROG 8 Pro is a smartphone, and the work involved replacing its camera lens. Camille said the team inspected both devices first, explained the issues, set expectations and kept her informed about the process.
- Jenny W., who has used Advanced Computers for multiple laptop and mobile phone repairs over the years, also mentioned clear communication and said the team was upfront about pricing and happy to answer questions.
Fast Turnaround and Efficient Service
Some repairs are more time-sensitive than others.
One recent NoCowboys customer (Mandy) needed important files recovered from a Mac before an IRD submission deadline. The customer said Richard and the team handled the data recovery professionally and efficiently, recovering the files in time to meet the deadline.
Mandy gave Advanced Computers 100% ratings for communication, quality, reliability and value.
“Thankfully, they managed to recover the important files in time for me to submit the information required by IRD before the deadline.”
“Excellent service, great communication, and highly reliable. Highly recommend!”
Other recent customers also mentioned turnaround time.
- Esther C. said her MacBook Air screen replacement had clear communication and a quick turnaround.
- At Rosedale, Adriana Z. said her computer was repaired in a day, while Tineke L. described her service as faster than expected.
Finding the Cause of the Problem
A customer may have an idea about what is wrong with a device before it is assessed. The eventual diagnosis can be different.
- Hamish M. suspected that his laptop had a hardware problem after waiting for assistance through HP. Advanced Computers identified a corrupt Microsoft update as the cause instead and completed the fix overnight.
- Richard D. also mentioned the value of getting practical advice, saying the team helped him save $80.
Solving Problems That Are Not Always Straightforward
Some of the most interesting reviews involve problems that were not immediately obvious.
- Mary Davenport brought in a device with what she described as a “simple but curious problem.” The issue involved a screw, and the team resolved it within minutes.
- At Rosedale, Joel Posthuma brought in a faulty circuit board from a factory machine with limited information about the board. The team identified and repaired the problem.
- Camille Monique Kemp had an iPod Classic repaired despite the difficulty of sourcing parts for the device in New Zealand. The same visit included a camera lens replacement on an ASUS ROG 8 Pro.
- Sandy Austin brought in a camera with zoom problems. The repair encountered a parts-sourcing issue, but the camera was eventually returned working. Sandy said the repair saved her from having to buy a new camera at a much higher cost.

- Circuit boards and other electronics
- Data recovery
John S. recently had the RAM upgraded on his HP laptop and described the service as “super fast” and professional. Donna P. praised the team after they helped with repairs to a TV and portable speaker. Claudine N. also reviewed her experience with a camera repair at Penrose.
