When carrying our the cleaning process it is often a good idea to remove RAM and ensure no dust is trapped in the memory slots as this can be a very common way to ‘fry’ your RAM. When removing RAM, it is also important to ensure you use an anti-static bracelet or to be sure you are ‘grounded’ to make sure you don’t pass any static electricity through to sensitive components. If you need to remove your CPU heat sink to effectively remove dust from the CPU fan and heat sink, be sure to use fresh thermal grease when reattaching your CPU heat sink otherwise your CPU may overheat and even burn out altogether.
