Small is the new big, according to a senior Samsung executive.

It has been officially announced that the Samsung Galaxy SIII Mini will be unveiled in Germany tomorrow (Friday 12th October NZ time).

Photographs of invitations to the launch day were posted online, and the German translated to “That’s how big small can be”. For Samsung, the launch of the SIII Mini is set to be it’s next big ‘thing’ in a continuation of a hugely successful release of products, starting with the original Galaxy SIII.

It has been confirmed that the Mini will be a 4-inch version of its parent smartphone, which is only 0.8-inches less, but which places it firmly in direct competition with the iPhone 5.

German technology site MobileGeeks, has postulated that the mini smartphone will have a screen resolution of 800×480 pixels with a rear 5-megapixel camera, and be powered by a 1GHz dual-core STE U8420 chip. The Mini Galaxy SIII is also expected to feature 16GB of flash memory with an expandable MicroSD card.
